意味が二種類ある
①いつもは違うのにXのときだけは特別に嫌なYになり、不満だ
②信頼しているXだけは、そのような良くないことはしないはずだ

急いでいる時に限って電車が止まる。 (Trains always seem to stop when I’m in a hurry.)

「自立出来る子」になって欲しいと言ってる母親に限って、過干渉な場合が多い。 (Mothers who express a desire for their children to become independent often tend to be overly controlling.)

いつも時間に正確なのに、大事な面接の日に限って遅刻してしまった。 (Despite usually being punctual, I ended up running late on the day of an important interview.)

デジタルカメラは普段は優れた性能を発揮するのに、写真を撮りたいときに限って電池が切れる。 (Digital cameras usually perform excellently, but they always seem to run out of battery when you want to take a picture.)

意味②

やさしい彼に限って暴力なんてふるうわけがない。 (There’s no way someone as kind as him would resort to violence.)

先生に限って遅刻するはずがない。 (There’s no way a teacher would be late, especially not this one.)

この会社の製品に限って3か月で壊れるなんて信じられない。 (It’s hard to believe that products from this company would break within three months.)

あの警官に限って、陰で暴力団と取引なんてするわけない。 (There’s no way that officer would engage in dealings with the underworld.)

有名大学の学生に限ってそのような事件を起こすはずがない。 (Students from prestigious universities wouldn’t be involved in such incidents.)

あの先生に限って特定の学生をひいきすることはないと思う。 (I don’t think that teacher would show favoritism toward certain students.)

「～に限らず」の対義だが、より「特別に」の意味合いが強い

普段の授業の欠席は、大学の試験を受ける場合に限り出席になる。 (Absences from regular classes are considered present only when taking university exams.)

10時までに来たお客様に限り無料でコーヒーを差し上げます。 (We offer complimentary coffee to customers who arrive before 10 a.m.)

このエレベーターは、高齢者や妊婦に限り利用することができます。 (This elevator is available only for elderly individuals and pregnant women.)
