≪意味・使い方≫
Xを皮切りに(して)Y。
- Xから始まってY ＜starting with X, Y＞
- Xがきっかけとなって、Yが次々と起こった、と言いたいときに使う
- 「して」はあってもなくてもいい。「Xを皮切りとして」という言い方もある

類似文型とその違い
「Xを皮切りにY」を含め、これらはいずれも「Xをはじめの機会として、Yが起こった」と言いたいときに使いますが、使える場面が少し違います。
まず、「～をきっかけに」は、一番広く使うことができます。XやYに入ることは、個人的なことや小さなこと、ネガティブなことでも構いません。一方、「～を契機に」は、ある程度規模が大きいことに使い、個人的な小さい出来事には使わず、内容もポジティブなことが多いです。
また、「～を皮切りに」も比較的大きなことに使いますが、Yに次々と起こることしか来ない、という制約があります。Yに1回しか起こらないことが来る場合には、「～を皮切りに」は使えません。
例：
この曲（◎をきっかけに ×を契機に ×を皮切りに）彼のファンになった。
社長の交代（〇をきっかけに ◎を契機に ×を皮切りに）社名を変更した。
この作品（△をきっかけに △を契機に ◎を皮切りに）彼は次々と新作を発表した。
このように、「～をきっかけに」「～を契機に」「～を皮切りに」は、使える場面が少しずつ異なります。
