用法

N＋すら┃以下接続例

≪意味・使い方≫
X(で)すらY。
- Xも、Xでも ＜even X＞
- 極端な例を出して、「X以外はもちろん、Xも」と言いたいときに使う
- Xが主格(Xに関わる動作の対象)のときには、「Xですら」となることが多い
- Yには、意志動詞は使えない
- 「さえ」【N3】と比べて、「すら」は少し古い言い方
１．Xに助詞が付き、その後ろに「すら」が付くことがある(例：妻にすら言っていない)。これはYの動詞の種類による。
例文
私はパソコンが苦手で、電源すら入れられない。 (I struggle with computers and can’t even turn on the power.)
タブレットの使い方は今どきは子供ですら知っている。 (These days, even children know how to use tablets.)
彼はアメリカに２０年もいたのに、簡単な会話すらできない。 (Despite spending 20 years in America, he can’t even have a simple conversation.)
時間が足りず、食事をする時間すらなかった。 (I didn’t have enough time, not even for a meal.)
絶望的な状況で、希望の光すら見えなかった。 (In a state of despair, I couldn’t even see a glimmer of hope.)
彼の成績は悪くて、合格点の半分にすら到達できなかった。 (His grades were poor, and he couldn’t even reach half of the passing score.)
彼女は喜びのあまり、言葉すら出てこなかった。 (She was so overwhelmed with joy that she couldn’t even find the words to express it.)
彼は誰も信じず、親友の言葉すら受け入れられなかった。 (He didn’t trust anyone, not even his closest friend’s words.)
彼の才能は素晴らしく、専門家ですら驚嘆するほどだ。 (His talent is extraordinary, even experts are amazed.)
彼は自分の名前すら忘れてしまった。 (He even forgot his own name.)
その映画は感動的なストーリーで、普段は泣かない大人たちですら涙を流していた。 (That movie had such an emotional story that even adults who don’t usually cry were shedding tears.)
大雨が降り続いて、窓を開けることすらできなかった。 (With heavy rain pouring, I couldn’t even open the window.)
彼は常に冷静な判断力を持ち、緊急事態ですら的確に対応する。 (He always maintains a calm judgment and responds accurately even in emergencies.)
